On May 12, 2026, Andrei Denisov, Senator of the Russian Federation and First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, visited Vavilov University.
Ilya Butko, Chairman of the Saratov Region Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Vladimir Ruchin, Chairman of the Russian-Chinese Friendship Society, also took part in the working meeting.
The visit is timed to coincide with preparations for the cross-years of Education between Russia and China in 2026-2027. This initiative was supported by President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.
The program of the stay included visits to key facilities of Vavilov University. The guests got acquainted with the exposition of the Saratov Kalach Museum, visited the Agroproduct trade and exhibition center and the memorial study museum of Academician Nikolay Ivanovich Vavilov. A sightseeing tour of the open exhibition space of scientific and educational achievements of the university was also conducted.
The central event of the visit was a meeting with the rector of the University Dmitry Solovyov, during which the topic "Cross-years in education in Russia and China: direction of the university's development as an important element of international cooperation" was discussed. The participants reviewed the prospects for cooperation with leading educational and scientific institutions of the programs, modern challenges of agricultural education and science, as well as the formation of the region's export model.
The Rector familiarized the audience with the material and technical base, modern scientific laboratories and innovative developments of the university, noting the significant potential of Vavilov University as a center of agricultural science and education.
"It is a great honour for us to host Senator of the Russian Federation Andrey Ivanovich Denisov at Vavilov University. This meeting is not only a sign of high confidence in our university, but also an important step towards strengthening strategic partnership in the field of education and science. Of particular importance is the discussion of the prospects for cooperation with the People's Republic of China. Russia and China have always had traditionally friendly, good-neighborly relations based on mutual respect and trust. Today, in the context of global transformation, these connections acquire a new quality and depth. Working together as part of the cross-years of Education between Russia and China will allow us to expand academic exchanges and implement joint research projects that are in demand for the development of the agro-industrial complex of both countries," the rector emphasized.
